Brief History of Cadet College Razmak
The foundation of Cadet College Razmak was laid by the late Prime Minister of Pakistan Mr. Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. The College became operational in 1978 with a single boarding hostel, Ghazali House, and Mr. Asghar Ali Choudhry was appointed its first principal.. Later that year, another boarding hostel, Bilal House, was established.
In 1979, owing to the increasing number of students, a 3rd boarding hostel, Jinnah House, was established. Major (R) G.D Langland, a highly respected Aitchison educationist, was appointed the new principal.
The 4th boarding hostel, Babar House, was established in 1980. The 5th boarding hostel, Abdali house, was established in 1981 and yet another one, Khushal house, was added in 1982.
In 1997, due to increasing strength of students, the then 7th hostel, Iqbal House, was established, however, it was later dispensed with.
In 1988, Mr. Jan Gul Khattak was appointed Principal. In 1991, Mr. Michael C. Cawthrone took the charge of Principal.
1997 was the year that marked a turn-around for Cadet College Razmak. Brig (R) Bashir Hussain Khattak took over as the Principal and literally revolutionarized the college. During his tenure, the College saw an Infrastructure turn-around never witnessed before. The Board exams results of Razmians improved a lot and year after year, they topped the SSC and HSSC exams of BISE Bannu.
In 2003, Mr. Khan Muhammad Khalil was appointed the Principal and in 2008, Mr Javed Iqbal Paracha assumed the charge of Principal.
In June 2009, hundreds of students and some teachers of the college were kidnapped by Taliban militants on their way to Bannu from Razmak. All were released within three days, however, due to uncertain situation the College’s academic setup had to be shifted to Peshawar.
In May 2011, roughly two years after being displaced from their home campus, the Razmians shifted back to Razmak.
