“Parents Day” in Cadet College Razmak, Pakistan

“Parents Day”
Once a year (in August or September) a mega event, the “Parents Days” is held which is the hallmark of the college activities. The “Chief Guest” for the event is mostly some high-ranking Military or Civilian official (The list has included Presidents, Prime Ministers, Governors, Corps Commanders).
Families of all cadets are invited to attend the event and all arrangements for boarding / lodging / dining of the families of cadets are made by the college.

Annual Day

The preparations for “Parents Day” event are commenced well in advance and are given a final touch two days before the D-day on the so-called “Annual Day”; the final Full-Dress Rehearsals are done. Also, prizes / medals are given to cadets who have performed very well in the domestic/internal examinations (i.e. 1st, 2nd, 3rd Positions).

Parents Days Activities

Ø      Families arrive at the college a day before the ‘Parents Day’ and stay the night at the college.
Ø      The Chief Guest normally arrives in the morning, between 0900 and 1000 Hrs, and the ‘Parents Day activities start at his setting foot in the parade ground. The activities are as under:
·        Parade & March Past by the ‘Drill Squad” consisting of
o       College Commander (Leading the Parade)
o       Guides (guide the Chief Guest during inspection of the parade)
o       Flag Party (a team of selected smart cadets holding the Pakistan & College Flags)
o       Drill Party of each house led by its Three Star Commander
·        Commando March past by junior cadets (Class 7th and 8th) dressed in camouflage uniforms
·        P.T Show by cadets of P.T Squad
·        Gymnastics Show by cadets of Gymnastic squad
·        Welcome Address by the Principal
·        Address by the Chief Guest
·        Distribution of Shields (Academic, Sports etc) among the winner houses
·        Closing formalities and 15-day break announcement for the cadets.

Kachra Party / L.O.P

The “Left-Over-Parade” (LOP), more famously known as “Kachra Party”, is a phenomenon that can not be skipped when talking about the “Parents Day” event.
This is a very interesting party consisting of those cadets who are included in Drill party, P.T Squad, Commando Squad or Gymnastics Squad. So these cadets are listed into the LOP or Kachra party, many of whom join it for having have some fun. This party is then kept busy by the military staff in duties like cutting off the uneven grass from the parade ground, clearing it of garbage, shopping bags and stray twigs etc and / or leveling the ground. Nobody knows when the Kachra party was first formed in the college, but every cadet who wants to have fun, is welcomed to it.
Till the time, the writer of this article was in the college, this party had some big revolutionary names in its ranks including:
·         Shamsuddin Mehsud Bhai Jan
·        Mirajuddin Wazir Bhai Jan
·        Niaz Hassan Bizenjo.
The later developments in this party may be shared through comments section by Cadets who joined the college later.
Note: This article has been written on a lighter note and is just for fun. If, however, anybody’s sentiments are hurt by it, the writer apologizes for that, in advance.
